A family of baby bears brought traffic to a standstill this weekend, when they decided to cross the road in Alaska.

Cars came to a complete stop when it was noticed a mama bear along with her three cubs were looking to make the crossing.

Vehicles in both lanes immediately came to a halt in order to let the bears pass and scamper off into the woods on the other side of the road.

A mom and her litter of three cubs waited by the side of the road to cross an Alaskan highway

The traffic came to a stop and then it was time for the bears to make their move

The little bears stayed closely behind their mom as they came to the side of the road before stopping to check there was nothing coming.

The mother walked across the highway while her little ones hurriedly followed her.

The babies had to work their little legs at least twice as hard in order to keep up with their mom.

Once they were safely across the street, the four bears began to look for food at the side of the road.

Female black bears can produce a litter of up to five cubs every two years. The average number of cubs is two or three.

‘Her cubs popped out from behind a fence and she led them across the highway and over the barricade to safety. It was a great learning experience for both the mama bears littles and my own.’

In the brief clip, the family of bears makes their way across the lanes of traffic as Patershuk films the cute moment.

‘Well I don’t know if the babies are going to be able to get over,’ the concerned mother says as the group approach the barrier.

The video then shows the mother and two of her larger cubs over the barrier, with one remaining cub struggling to get over.
