He’s always demonstrated a love for animals.

And on Wednesday former pro-wrestler Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, 43, showed his generosity by contributing a sizeable chunk of change toward surgery for an injured K9, according to TMZ.

Of course it may have helped that the pooch shared a name with the famous movie star.

According to the GoFundMe site set up for the stricken dog, The Rock (the dog version) was in very poor condition when a shelter first got him.

‘He was dumped at North Central Shelter with a large metal wire wrapped around the bottom portion of his mouth. It took bolt cutters for the shelter to remove it. Dwayne [also] has a grade 5 heart murmur. Grade 6 is considered the most severe.’

The site revealed the heart murmur would require surgery totaling almost $5000.

Apparently, when the human Dwayne Johnson heard about the plight of the pup, he couldn’t resist and donated $1500 to the cause immediately.

Luckily, the GoFundMe goal has been reached, and shelter workers noted any extra funds would go toward helping other unfortunate dogs.

This is not the first time The Rock has come to the aid of an animal.

Sadly, Brutus has since passed away after he ate a poisonous mushroom.

On Tuesday Dwayne returned to the set of his current HBO hit Ballers.

He took a cool snap with Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, which he posted to Instagram, and revealed the NFL footballer would be guest starring on the show.
