Dedication to staying in top form: Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson shows off his ripped muscles as he hits the gym in LA for his daily workout

He’s constantly working to maintain his Olympian physique.

And Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson showed the dedication it takes to stay in his peak shape when he arrived at his gym in Los Angeles on Monday for his daily workout.

The 49-year-old star wasn’t letting up after his Disney film Jungle Cruise limped to a modest first-place finish at the weekend box office.

Daily grind: Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, 49, was spotted out in Los Angeles on Monday for his daily workout, following the modest box office success of his Disney movie Jungle Cruise

Dwayne was dressed casually ahead of working up a sweat in a black ‘Iron Paradise Training Dept.’ tank top with white-and-yellow text.

He paired it with black-and-white athletic shorts with yellow trim and a bull’s head logo.

The Fast & Furious franchise star also wore low-key black trainers and helped block out the bright Southern California sun with classic aviator sunglasses.

On Saturday, Dwayne posted on Instagram to thank his fans for helping Jungle Cruise top the box office.

‘For those of you who went or watched it from your living room and created a big experience in your living room, I want to thank you guys so much,’ the action star gushed.

‘These numbers are coming in and they’re pretty good. I’ll just say that and I want to say thank you so much for your support. This journey has been since 2018. Of course, we all dealt with Covid. We had to push everything, but finally it’s out there for the world to enjoy.

‘We wanted to create the adventure of a lifetime and also understood the responsibility of creating something, I think, that had some real legacy based on the iconic and beloved Disney ride,’ he concluded.

The film has received mixed reviews and just barely earned a fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes with 62 percent of critics surveyed approving of it.

However, only 52 percent of the most high-profile publications gave the movie a thumbs up.

That doesn’t seem to have diminished Dwayne’s love of the film, as producer Hiram Johnson revealed that the actor has long been a fan of the original Jungle Cruise ride at Disneyland and Disney World.

‘Ironically, Jungle Cruise was DJ’s favorite ride,’ he told Polygon. ‘And luckily, Disney was in a place where they were interested in trying to get something [going] with Jungle Cruise.

‘But DJ had this wish that we never even knew that he had this aspiration of like, “One day I want to, I want to be able to do that.” So it all came together. It all came together in a great way just several years later from the first time we talked about it.’

Big fan: The film, which also stars Emily Blunt, has received mixed reviews, but Johnson likely doesn’t mind as he’s a fan of the original ride, according to Polygon; still from Jungle Cruise

If the reviews are a mixed bag, Jungle Cruise’s performance at the box office isn’t a clear win either.

Although it earned the most money at the weekend box office, it only earned $34 million at the North American box office, according to Variety.

The total revenue comes out to around $90 million when adding $27 million from international markets and $30 million from Disney+ payments, but the film cost more than $200 million to make and around $100 million to market.

Experts expect it will need to make at least $500 million to break even, as ticket sales are shared with theaters.

Although the film did about as well as some of the best-performing pandemic-era films, it couldn’t match the first week earnings for films like Black Widow ($80 million), F9 ($70 million) and A Quiet Place Part II ($47 million).

It also seems likely that Johnson won’t be receiving his full payday due to Disney’s decision to allow Disney+ subscribers to watch the film on opening day.

Many actors in big budget productions get a smaller base salary and significant bonuses for strong performance at the box office.

However, their contracts don’t account for streaming profits, so every dollar spent on Disney+ and not in a theater chips away at his potential payday.

Black Widow star Scarlett Johansson has already launched a lawsuit against Disney, alleging that the company robbed her of her bonus by putting the movie on its streaming service without renegotiating her contract for a higher base pay rate.

Taking it in stride: Like Scarlett Johansson on Black Widow, he’ll likely lose out on millions over Disney’s decision to put the film on Disney+, though he’s not planning to sue, according to Deadline; still from Jungle Cruise

Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt star in Disney’s ‘Jungle Cruise’

However, Johnson doesn’t seem to be interested in pursuing the same legal strategy, even though he’s likely to be hurt in the same way.

Deadline reported that ‘Dwayne Johnson and his Seven Bucks camp have no intention of battling Disney for any anticipated loss of dollars on this day-and-date release on the Jaume Collet-Serra-directed movie.’

The outlet added that the ‘action star’s camp was in lock-step with the Mouse House when the announcement was made to deliver the pic to a global audience everywhere at a time when certain offshore theatrical markets (like Southeast Asia) are offline due to Covid.’
